The shortcomings of existing narrative reviews of automation transparency warranted a meta-analysis, a statistical assessment of the magnitude and consistency of the observed effects of automation transparency interventions. We statistically assessed the effects of automation transparency intervention on task performance by means of a statistical meta-analysis. 

Below is an example of one of the meta-analyses performed, which showed that we cannot conclude that, on average, transparency intervention improves task performance in the universe of comparable studies to these ten studies included in this meta-analysis.
